Milo de R. Arends Sr. and Mrs B. G. Fortunata Arends, whom after many years of market analysis, extensive research and a well conducted feasibility study, came to the conclusion that there was a demand for a Service Station that would cater to the demographic area North of the island. The project was made possible through the combined effort of the investors and Esso Petroleum Company (ESSO). On december 31st 1970 Ponton Service Center N.V. was officially opened to the general public under the trade name "Esso Ponton" which reflected where it was situated (in the district of Ponton.)
